Democrats call for investigations and seek to protect consumers in wake of Equifax data breach

The Equifax data breach affecting 143 million people “ very possibly is the most severe of all for a simple reason: the breathtaking amount of highly sensitive data it handed over to criminals,” ArsTechnica’s Dan Goodin writes. And, adding insulting injury to grievous injury, Equifax is claiming that people give up their right to sue if they use the company’s tools to find out if they’re affected or to seek protection.
