Georgia beats Notre Dame 20-19, completing the Dawgs’ takeover of South Bend

UGA’s fans won the battle early. The team won it late. The southern boys from Georgia took their act on the road north of the Mason-Dixon Line and came away with the win over Notre Dame. But it was more than that for the Dawgs. They won on the field, sure, but they painted South Bend completely red and black, and in the end made the city theirs with the victory. In a first half devoid of many fireworks, Terry Godwin delivered a firecracker when he scored on this touchdown in the first half.
