The Nunes Memo Could Still Undermine Mueller, Even If It Shouldn't

Here’s something we’re keeping in mind in our coverage of the Nunes memo: Substance-wise, it’s a dud. It’s poorly sourced and misleading, and fails to establish any significant wrong-doing by the FBI or Justice Department. That’s all crucial to make clear, as TPM has in its coverage this afternoon. But none of that answers whether the memo will succeed in discrediting the Mueller investigation, and perhaps even in making it easier for President Trump to fire Rod Rosenstein, which would put the probe in grave peril.
