The New Lawrence Hotel opened in 1928 as an upscale apartment hotel. Its lobby was featured in Architecture magazine, including the grand stained glass ceiling. At some point during the following decades, the ceiling was covered up. When the building was restored in 2016, it was uncovered, restored, and cleaned, piece by piece.
