We hear from Tel Aviv that the singer Annette Celine died there this morning at the age of 78. Annette was the daughter of the international pianist Felicja Blumenthal. She founded the Felicja Blumental piano competition in 1999 and reissued many of her mother’s recordings on the Brana label.

Nikita Abrosimov, 28, of Russia, was added today to the contestants in the Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, May 25–June 10, 2017, at Fort Worth’s Bass Performance Hall. He replaces Mehdi Ghazi of Algeria and Canada, who has withdrawn from the competition. No reason given.
